Yes We Can celebrate success at the 2024 Oscars event
Leighton Buzzard disability sports program, Yes We Can (YWC), recognised all of their participants at their seventh Oscars ceremony on Sunday 6th October 2024 at Brooklands Residents Association. Over 150 participants, their parents, carers and guests came together and enjoyed a celebration over the past year.
The Yes We Can program, which is run by the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade, presented over 16 trophies and 150 medals to recognise the last twelve months achievements by participants.
What is the “Yes We Can” program?
The Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade “Yes We Can” inclusive sports program was established seven years ago to provide an accessible, affordable and sustainable programme of sporting activities for those with a disability in South West Bedfordshire.
The programme has gone from strength to strength and now seven years on there are opportunities in Football, Hockey, Sailing, Swimming and Tennis with Golf currently in its pilot stage.
Richard Johnson OBE of the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade said of the event;
“We are thrilled at the progress the programme has made and our annual awards afternoon is a real highlight, celebrating every individual’s achievements in the past twelve months. It is so rewarding that together with a host of partners Rotary has been able to create a centre of excellence for Disability Sport in Leighton-Linslade providing opportunities for the whole of our county and surrounding areas.”
