Meet Jemma!
Jemma qualified as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in March 2010 and joined Osborne Morris & Morgan in January 2017.
She works in our Conveyancing department and is skilled in dealing with residential sales and purchases having worked in Conveyancing for over 17 years. She is fully CQS trained and accredited.
Jemma shares her career story, what she likes most about OMM’s culture, and what advice she would give to someone looking to start a career in Conveyancing.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background? I’m 34 years old, I’ve lived in Bedfordshire all my life, I’m married with two children.
What inspired you to start a career in Conveyancing? The best teacher in school (Mr Paisley!), he thoroughly made every sector of the law enjoyable to study!
What stood out to you about OMM when applying for opportunities? The friendly team, widespread, from senior management to reception.
What do you enjoy most about working at OMM? The flexibility, in that the firm sees each employee and their needs individually.
What is the culture like at OMM? It’s a family friendly supportive team.
What is a “normal day” like in your role? Grab a coffee, log on to my laptop, check my emails and review the completions for the day. Once those are underhand, I then begin responding to the daily emails and attending to my to-do list. At the end of the day, I like to take a moment to review my caseload to check nothing has been forgotten or missed for the day.
What advice would you give someone looking to start their legal qualification? Experience makes a huge difference, the legal qualifications and how matters work on ground level are many moons apart, get all the work experience you can during the holidays.
What would you be if you weren’t a Conveyancer? I’d like to work with young people in mental health.
