YES WE CAN… support our local initiatives
OM&M support Leighton Linslade’s ‘Yes We Can’ campaign
Osborne Morris & Morgan, have joined forces and partnered with the Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade to help deliver projects as part of the ‘Yes We Can’ program.
The local solicitors have donated £1,000 to help fund some of the planned sports days and are working closely to promote the overall initiative and all of it’s projects.
The ‘Yes We Can’ program was founded in 2017 by Rotary Club member, Richard Johnson OBE, after he noticed a distinct lack of sports activities for the disabled in the local community.
With the help of fellow members, Nick Inwards and Peter Banwell, Richard’s mission began with the establishment of a dynamic, all-inclusive football team- ‘The Buzzards’, to include all disabilities.
The Buzzards receive great opportunities via the initiative’s partner, MK Dons Sports Education Trust, such as training with MK Dons coaches, attending matches and playing in a league with other MK Dons SET teams.
Today, the initiative is supported by other organisations, including Leighton Buzzard Mencap and the Families United Network, to bring affordable and sustainable sporting opportunities to those with a disability.
Paul Lockhart, who is the Practice Manager at Osborne Morris & Morgan, said;
“It is both a pleasure and an honour to sponsor the Leighton Linslade’s ‘Yes We Can’ sports initiative. The Rotary Club achieve fantastic things within our local community, and by partnering up with MK Dons SET they are making a real difference to the lives of children, young people and adults that would otherwise have never been possible.
With our mutual desire to support the work SET do and also the local community, it seems common sense to partner with the ‘Yes We Can’ organisations, so that we can all continue to improve the lives of many. ”
This summer, MK Dons SET will be holding a Summer Holiday 2019 and Easter Holiday 2020 Multi Sports Days, at the Scout HQ in Grovebury Rd. OMM’s support will enable the provision of four days for the under 18 participants and provide a break for children and parents/ carers in the holidays.
The ‘Yes We Can’ program has been chosen as a blue token charity at Tesco’s in Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable, so you too can help to make disability sport accessible in Bedfordshire.
