Law firm raise awareness on the importance of having Lasting Power of Attorney
Osborne Morris and Morgan solicitors return to Leighton Buzzard Railway Station to treat commuters, whilst raising awareness on the importance of having a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA).
If you are a regular commuter via Leighton Buzzard Railway Station, then there is a good chance that you may have been greeted by local lawyers handing out flyers and free mints, on the morning of September 10th.
The members from the Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney team at OM&M were promoting their latest campaign – to promote the firm’s half price LPA offer, as part of their new Wills and LPA packages.
The team were on hand to book appointments, or to answer questions surrounding setting up an LPA.
As part of OM&M’s commitment to raising money for charity, collection buckets for MK Snap, were also present for those who wished to donate a few pennies.
Also, on the morning, was the chance for commuters to enter a free prize draw to win a Deluxe Family Hamper from Pecks Farm Shop. Entrants could also enter via the firm’s social media pages.
Leighton Buzzard local, Lisa Walsh, was announced as the lucky winner, after being randomly selected from the competition entries.
“I’d completely forgotten that I’d entered into the prize draw, so I was surprised and excited to receive a call from them to say that I had won a Peck’s Farm Deluxe Hamper. I live in Leighton Buzzard – not far from their West Street Office, so thought I’d take to opportunity to visit them and collect the hamper myself. I’ll definitely be using them next time I need any Conveyancing or my Will updating. I think it’s terrific that they run these competitions and involve themselves in the local community. I’ll definitely enjoy the Hamper.”
Sarah Crook, of Osborne Morris & Morgan, said;
“We were so pleased to have another successful campaign this year and we had some great conversations with the local community.
Not many people were aware that planning ahead and organising your Lasting Power of Attorney is just as important as writing your Will. Leaving it all too late could have huge financial implications, not to mention immense heartache for your loved ones.
Should you lose mental capacity, and you have no Lasting Power of Attorney in place, a Deputy may need to be appointed in order to legally allow someone to manage your affairs for you. Applying for Deputyship can cost between £3 – 3,500 plus vat and other fees including court costs of £385.
You can avoid these fees by organising a Lasting Power of Attorney.
This is why we are offering our discounted packages on Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney when they are prepared with us, at the same time – enabling you to get your affairs in order, provide for your loved ones, and save money.”
