Co-founder of OM&M, Eric Morris, retires after 39 years
Eric Morris, one of the co-founders of law firm, Osborne Morris & Morgan has finished his role of Head of Court of Protection and has begun his retirement at the age of 66.
Eric, who was the son of a coal miner from Yorkshire, started his career in 1977 working in various areas of practice, before forming the organisation with Tom Osborne in 1980. Peter Morgan joined the partnership later, in 1981.
Eric’s specialism in High Court litigation involving brain injury cases has led to his handling of a large number of high profile, and high value, Personal Injury and Medical Negligence claims, over the last 20 years.
His role extended beyond Personal Injury Litigation at times- also acting as Deputy in the Court of Protection and Professional Trustee for clients, as well as being an expert witness at court.
In 2005, Eric established OM&M’s Court of Protection department, which is now overseen by recently promoted, Gemma Eason, who has become the Head of Department.
Eric retired as Senior Partner in 2013, but has remained as a Consultant to the firm for the past six years.
Eric now looks forward to spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren during his well-deserved retirement, as well as planned trips to the theatre, going fishing and a doing spot of gardening.
Eric said of his retirement;
“Having set up the firm and worked for 39 enjoyable years, I am very happy to retire knowing OM&M continues to be in safe hands. I am very grateful to all of the clients and staff who have made all of these years so enjoyable, and I pass on my very best wishes to all”.
Partner and Head of Personal Injury Trusts, Tim Woolford, passed on his best wishes to Eric;
“Eric has been the most influential person in my professional career. It has been a privilege to work alongside him for nearly 20 years. He has been a boss, a mentor, a business partner and a friend. I wish him a long and happy retirement to enjoy his many and varied interests”.
A retirement luncheon was held for Eric, in March, at Luton Hoo.
