Annie’s mission to cycle capital for cancer charities
A litigation assistant from Flitwick is taking on cancer in a 100km night cycle challenge after losing four members of her family to the disease in 12 months.
Annie Lawrence, who is an employee at Osborne Morris & Morgan, is gearing up to take part in the flagship Women vs Cancer challenge, Ride the night London 2019, on May 25th this year.
The 100km cycle route through the capital will take participants past many of London’s iconic landmarks including Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.
Annie has already smashed her target of £500, by £190 – with a current total of £690 going to three women’s cancer charities- Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Trust.
“In the past 12 months five of my family members have passed away. Four of these are to cancer, one specifically to a woman’s cancer.
It’s horrific seeing the effect of this disease on both the individual and everyone around them. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, it can touch anyone. If cycling for a few hours can help prevent a cancer or help someone affected by it, it’s a very small sacrifice on my part. I dedicate this ride to my mum-in-law, Maureen Clements.”
