Court of Protection (COP)

OMM has a dedicated Court of Protection department headed by founding partner Eric Morris. Currently the total value of assets under administration by us personally as professional Receiver is in excess of £60 million. Our experience in helping clients generate large damage awards in the personal injury and clinical negligence fields means that we are uniquely placed to assist with the administration of funds in cases which involve the Court of Protection. Sensitivity and approachability in helping to administer to the needs of individuals and families whose lives have been turned upside down by a catastrophic injury are an absolute necessity.

We have acted for clients for many years in damages claims recovering very large monetary awards. Increasingly we found we were being asked to assist on a long term basis to help both preserve and administer funds that we were generating in accident claims. Working closely both with the families involved and the Court of Protection over the years has enabled us to establish significant expertise in this area.

Court of Protection (COP)
We are able to act as professional Receiver or in the alternative assisting family Receivers in dealing with the affairs of a loved one.We have for many years prided ourselves upon a holistic approach to these issues with the aim of ensuring the individual concerned benefits from the best possible quality of life in all the circumstances of a particular case.

Whilst our department began as a service to our existing personal injury clients subsequent expansion has meant that we are now able to assist other individuals who are contemplating the involvement of a professional Receiver of alternatively a lay Receiver who requires assistance with the many duties involved in performing that role. We can assist with the preparation of Court of Protection annual accounts, tax returns and negotiations with the Inland Revenue, preparation of statutory wills and negotiations with and appearances before the Court of Protection.

If you require help in any of these matters or would like to speak to us concerning the potential involvement of a professional Receiver please contact a member of our team who will be pleased to assist.
